From The Vice President of Membership

Like all volunteer organizations, the Isle of Wight Volunteer Rescue Squad is always on the hunt for new members. Unlike many such organizations, emergency medical workers have the unique opportunity to make a difference between life and death when someone calls for help through the 9-1-1 system! Our members have phenomenal stories to tell about their contributions to their community!

In order to qualify for membership with the Isle of Wight Volunteer Rescue Squad (IOWVRS), volunteers must be certified in cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and be either a state-certified emergency driver and/or an emergency medical technician (EMT). Once certified, individuals can join the squad and begin precepting in their new role under the direction of an experienced squad member.

Primary Types of Membership

Active Membership: Full membership requires that the individual schedule 24-hours of duty at the squad each month. Once an active member, individuals qualify for full voting rights at general membership meetings and training opportunities are generally funded by the squad’s annual budget.

Associate Membership: This membership category requires only 12-hours of duty each month.

Other special membership categories are also available: Life and Responder Associate.
